Call for Papers - SpillAsia 2026 Conference

THE SPILLASIA 2026 'CALL FOR PAPERS' PROCESS IS NOW LIVE
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: THURSDAY 29 JANUARY 2026


To aid the curation of a world-class Conference, the SpillAsia 2026 Committee has initiated the event’s 'Call For Papers' process and invites authors to submit abstracts for consideration by Thursday 29 January 2026.

The Committee invites authors interested in spealing at SpillAsia 2026 to submit abstracts (of up to 500-words, max) for consideration via email to Content Director Mark J Orr at Conference@spillasia.com.

Please submit your abstracts by no later than Thursday 29 January 2026.  Abstracts received after this date cannot be considered.

Submission instructions

This will be a one-stage abstract submission process with authors interested in speaking at SpillAsia 2026 to submit abstracts (of up to 500-words, max)  by Thursday 29 January 2026.

A selection process will be undertaken by the Conference Committee, before authors are notified of final decisions circa early March 2026.  SpillAsia 2026 will publish its preliminary Conference programme by the end of March 2026.

To assist authors, the Committee has confirmed and published the key themes and topics that are sought for SpillAsia’s Conference. These are available to view on this web page, below.

Please note: if ultimately selected to speak at SpillAsia 2026, it will be the requirement of the author’s employers to fund their participation travel and accommodation expenses. All speakers will be granted free-of-charge delegate access to the event, for all three open days.

The 'Call For Papers' process invites 500-word (max) abstracts for presentation consideration. Interested parties are asked to consider the following priority themes of importance:

  • Maintaining competence when there are fewer incidents.
  • Managing stakeholders (professional and public) during incidents.
  • Incident communication in a digital world.
  • Remote and small island spill response.
  • Environmental damage and post-spill monitoring.

Response updates

  • Offshore sub-surface response.
  • Offshore surface response.
  • Dispersants.
  • Shoreline response.
  • Inland response.
  • Wildlife management.

Surveillance, modelling, visualisation and use of AI

  • Papers invited on all 4 above themes.
  • Remote sensing.

Shipping risks

  • Sanctions, insurance and claims.
  • Carriage of Hazardous and Noxious Substances (HNS).
  • Sunken vessels and wrecks.
  • Vessel security.

Marine alternative fuels

  • Recovery of low sulphur fuels.
